Nailed Down

blue fingernailsI have many harmless obsessions like the Lord of the Rings Trilogy or Kanye West, but none are as time consuming or menial as painting my nails. I go through a rigorous routine of a base coat, 2-3 layers of color, and a top coat about four different times a week.  I like to paint my nails based on how I’m feeling or the season, bright colors for summer and spring, metallics and dark colors for fall and winter. Nails go way beyond color. There are different finishes like matte or high gloss, and different textures like crackle or glitter.  I like to think I started my own nail trend by painting the pinkie finger a different color. Even while writing this post, I am painting my nails.

However, there is a dark, scary side to nail painting…it feeds the evil that is procrastination. As a college student, procrastination is always prevalent, it creeps up on you when you least expect it.  It disguises itself into different forms such as TV, Facebook, or for me, nail painting.  School work doesn’t seem as interesting when there is a more entertaining way to pass the time.  My best advice to overcome the “I’ll do it later” attitude  is to make a list of the things you have to accomplish for the day. Let’s be honest, you will be more likely to stay on track if you have an agenda. Just be sure to give yourself time to update your nails at least once or maybe four times a week.

Findlay Fashion Tip #5: Try my new trend…paint your pinkies a contrasting color from the rest of your nails.

I paint my nails when I’m avoiding work too! (Not that intense though)

I’ve heard of the ring finger technique…talk to me about pinkies

Well tdawg, the ring finger is common but you could always change it up with the pinkie!
