A Dining Hall Story with a Sweet Ending

BrownieI am a foodie! I love trying different kinds of cuisines. My mantra for good health is to try everything, but the consumption should not be overly excessive. In Findlay, I haven’t had much opportunity to explore around different food places, but couple of days ago I decided to try our campus dining hall. The food was beyond my expectation and I truly enjoyed my experience over there.

Since it was my first time, I wasn’t familiar with the environment at Henderson Dining Hall. After entering, I met a lady wearing an orange shirt at the register. I asked her for advice regarding the selection of food, and within two minutes she gave me an entire overview about dining hall services.

I started off in the salad bar section where they have large selection of veggies to choose from. I was amazed to find many so many different varieties of dressings! Except for the ranch dressing, I wasn’t familiar with most of them. It was interesting to try some new choices.

Moving bit further, there are different stations where they have a pretty diverse choice of food options.

I tried most of the selections that were available that day. After I was done with my plate, I was surprised to find two other stations I had overlooked. One was more like a deli section and other was called the ” Chef’s Special,” and it features a different stir-fry or pasta entree each day. At that moment, I felt like I was in a food palace, where there are different options at every corner!  Since my appetite didn’t approve trying more food, I decided to leave those stations for my next visit. I tend to have a sweet tooth, so despite having a heavy lunch I was tempted to try a rich chocolate brownie and some of the cookies at the dessert table. College students often complain about the on-campus food options, but I’m looking forward to my next visit to Henderson!

Love the poppy seed dressing at the salad bar! I agree that Henderson has good food. The reason I think most students complain about dining hall food, is they despite there being a lot of variety, it’s the same variety every semester, every year for 4 years. Even with good food and good variety, the same food gets “boring” after a while.
